Embedded Linux Systems Engineer

SolarBridge Technologies, Inc. has developed an innovative microinverter and management system that dramatically improves reliability, increases energy production, and reduces installation costs for solar systems. Our management system links arrays of solar panels to the local electrical grid and provides comprehensive data acquisition, monitoring and control over the internet. One of our key system components is an outdoor, industrial-grade, highly customized Linux device called a Power Manager.

We are seeking a candidate for the position of Embedded Linux Systems Engineer. This individual will be responsible for maintaining the Linux stack for he current and future versions of the Power Manager. This includes configuring and maintaining kernel and device drivers, file systems and partitions, optimizing runtime memory footprint, updating and maintaining the security on the Power Manager product, and creating and maintaining upgrade and fresh install scripts as new software and hardware versions are released. Other job responsibilities include field QA and supporting automation quality assurance and factory processes to optimize bring-up and test times.

The candidate for this position must have the experience and communication skills that will allow him or her to participate in management discussions as well as manage technical design of future products.

Required and desired background and experience

• High competency in C / C++ and Python programming on a Linux platform

• Understanding of Linux kernels and custom device drivers

• Experience with standard embedded programming tools (e.g. cross compilers) required

• Experience with shell scripting and Linux package management

• Experience with boot, early userspace and runlevel configuration of Linux systems

• Serial, USB device experience, JTAG debugging and ARM platform experience a plus

• B.Sc. in CS or EECS and 5+ years of Linux development experience

• Excellent oral and written English communication skills
