Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist in architecting, designing, and developing embedded hardware based systems for use in the latest SolarBridge Power Manager Gateway.
- Self-starter who can deliver on commitments made, without a lot of guidance, while solving problems with creative “out-of-the-box” thinking tempered by experience and overall corporate objectives.
- Contribute to product line roadmaps as well as product ideas, definitions, specifications, feasibility, and schedules.
- Collaborate with electrical, firmware, software, mechanical and manufacturing engineers, program and product managers and other teammates, globally.
- Lead, oversee, and review design work done by engineering and manufacturing partners in Asia.
- Work with the latest processors, memory, networking chips and various other I/O technologies to satisfy the varied requirements in the fast growing and evolving solar market.
- Oversee and assist our partners with the design, debugging, troubleshooting, and documenting of this important part of the Solarbridge PV solution while ensuring compliance to EMI/EMC, Safety and other applicable regulations. This includes participating in or leading design reviews of the overall architecture, block diagrams, component selection, schematics, BOMs and PCB designs for products built with high-speed, mixed signal multilayer PCBAs.
- Provide leadership for determining and managing BOM costs and project budget during product planning and development.
- Work closely with internal Sourcing and Supply Chain partners and component vendors to identify, qualify and recommend new components having strategic value for use in new products. You will also be familiar with new product introduction (NPI) activities as part of transition to manufacturing.
Education and Experience
- B.S or higher degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering from a four year ABETS accredited college or university, or equivalent combination of education & experience.
- Minimum of 10 years of directly related experience in embedded systems design and development with a demonstrated record of leadership, and a proven track record in designing and shipping microcontroller based designs supporting multiple I/O technologies.
- Demonstrate working knowledge of cross-functional and related technical areas such as mechanical design, firmware, component location and sourcing, quality techniques, regulatory compliance.
- Experience with Power Line Communications (PLC), Wi-Fi, Zigbee and antennas (a plus).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skill with the ability to prepare and present technical material to a wide audience at all organizational levels including non-technical clientele.
- Outstanding interpersonal and leadership abilities with proven analytical problem-solving skills.
- Previous experience supervising others.
- Previous experience working with Asia based ODMs (Original Design Manufacturers).
- Commitment to working independently and in a team environment.
- Requires occasional domestic and international travel.
