SolarBridge moves HQ, triples space
Austin Business Journal (August 16, 2010) - SolarBridge Technologies has moved its headquarters to a larger 13,000-square-foot space just off Burnet Road in Austin.
The company, founded in 2004, said in a press release the new office at 9229 Waterford Centre Blvd. more than triples its previous square footage in its North Capital of Texas Highway home. The power conversion developer said the new office was need to accommodate growth.
“SolarBridge’s expansion reflects the growth of Austin’s solar industry and clean tech as a whole,” said Susan Davenport, vice president of business, retention and expansion at the Austin Chamber of Commerce.
“We hope their success will encourage other solar and renewable energy companies to build their businesses in Austin – one of America’s most talented and qualified cities for green technology.”
The new location also includes an on-site lab for research and development, as well as an outdoor facility for field testing products.
In April, SolarBridge garnered $15 million in Series B funding, which was preceded by $1.5 million of support from the Texas Emerging Technology Fund. The company has raised more than $27 million to date. Last month, the company hired former Coldwatt Inc. and Valence Technology Inc. executive Joe Lamoreux Inc. as vice president of operations.
The company was founded as SmartSpark Energy Systems Inc. in Illinois. It moved its headquarters to Austin and changed its name last year.
