First Integrated Microinverter with 25-Year Warranty Receives Certification for Use with AC Modules

AUSTIN, Texas (March 14, 2011) – SolarBridge Technologies (SolarBridge), a leading developer of integrated microinverters for the solar industry, announced today the SolarBridge PantheonTM microinverter has passed all tests required under the UL 1741 safety standard for photovoltaic (PV) inverters, as certified by the Canadian Standards Association (CSA).

The SolarBridge Pantheon microinverter is attached to the back of solar modules to create an integrated AC module. It is the first integrated microinverter backed by a 25-year warranty to achieve UL 1741 certification.

As an enabling technology for AC modules, the SolarBridge Pantheon passed all tests as required under UL 1741 and CSA C22.2 No 107.1, which includes utility-interface requirements under IEEE 1547. Additional testing on the microinverter and AC cabling used with ACPV modules included environmental evaluations under UL 1703 (PV modules) – a rigorous series on temperature cycling, humidity cycling and wet insulation resistance. The AC connectors were also subjected to mechanical testing including impact at -35 degrees C.

“These are great milestones for our technology and our company,” said Ron Van Dell, president and CEO, SolarBridge. “These certifications mean that our AC Module System has passed all the necessary industry safety tests—qualifying the SolarBridge Pantheon as a power electronics component for any AC module built for North America.”

AC modules enabled by the SolarBridge Pantheon deliver key safety and economic advantages. With no DC field wiring, AC modules are inherently safer for residential and commercial rooftop installations. SolarBridge-powered AC modules eliminate the need to install a central inverter or detached microinverters, reducing the levelized cost of energy by up to 30 percent. The highly reliable, patented architecture of the Pantheon utilizes film capacitors instead of electrolytic capacitors, enabling the industry’s first end-to-end 25-year warranty for an AC module, eliminating costly inverter replacements.

About Canadian Standards Association

The Canadian Standards Association (CSA) is a nationally recognized test lab (NRTL) with the ability to certify products to U.S. nationally recognized standards and Canadian standards. When certifying products for the U.S. market, CSA uses the same testing standards as UL, performing those tests in a CSA test lab.
