Microinverters were named one of the “top 5 game-changing solar power technologies” - Wed, November 5 2008

CHAMPAIGN, IL NOVEMBER 4, 2008 – Microinverters were named one of the “top 5 game-changing solar power technologies” by Popular Mechanics magazine on October 13, 2008. Among the other technologies: back-contact silicon PV panels, concentrating PV panels, CIGS thin-film panels and solar thermal storage, microinverters solve one of the main problems in the solar power system, the inverter. SmartSpark has addressed this problem with its latest product, SolarBridge, an integrated microinverter which will convert DC power generated from the sun to grid-compliant AC power while maintaining power and reducing costs.

“ The combination of our inverter and monitoring system will promote large amounts of grid-connected solar power,” said SmartSpark’s Chief Technical Officer, Dr. Patrick Chapman. Each panel can be monitored for Maximum Power Point Tracking, thus greater energy harvest and reliability result.
